Mavyret (Glecaprevir/Pibrentasvir) is a combination medication containing glecaprevir and Pibrentasvir, two antiviral medications. Mavyret is used to treat chronic hepatitis C in adults and children over 12 with the HCV genotype 1,2,3,4,5, or 6, and in patients who have not had cirrhosis. Mavyret is typically used after other medications have been tried without success. The two antiviral medications that Mavyret contains, Glecaprevir and Pibrentasvir, both work by targeting specific proteases, which are components of virus cells that are essential for the replication of the virus. Mavyret attaches to and inhibits the actions of these proteases, blocking the replication of the virus and killing the infection.
